Talking Circle

This is an invitation to open our hearts, listen carefully, and be open to everything that is shared.

On Saturday, July 13, Sven is organizing a Talking Circle in collaboration with Op Hodenpijl. A 'Talking Circle' is a process that brings people together intending to speak from our truth, to open our hearts to what lives within us, and to make ourselves receptive so that we learn to listen truly and attentively to everyone. This tradition is deeply rooted in the traditional practices of multiple indigenous traditions and is being embraced today to connect on a deeper level, breaking down barriers between people and opening up new possibilities for connection where we can truly 'see' each other as people. Circles create a sacred space where everyone is equal and where reactive (or hierarchical) communication is prevented and offers insight into the deep art of conversation. Each circle focuses on one theme with a selection of questions that we address during the circle.

To listen another’s soul into a condition of disclosure and discovery may be almost the greatest service that any human being ever performs for another.” — Douglas Van Steere

During this evening, Sven will start by explaining the principles of a 'Talking Circle' after which we will open together and move on to sharing the word. Depending on how the evening progresses, it lasts on average between two and three hours. Afterward, we conclude together and there is an opportunity to relax for a cup of tea.
