When you parse the word 'artist' it actually says 'art' 'is', it actually evokes what there 'is', it speaks about being, about the embodied experience of the man. For me, this is the essence of the fact that 'art' always speaks of the intimate relationship of man with creation, in which it can consciously express itself through the inspired state in which it is infused with unlimited potential in the form of what we call inspiration. Inspiration literally means being “in spirit” as an immediate influence of the Divine creative power. Just as creation clothes itself in the human form, so man clothes inspiration in an idea, an idea is the bundled manifestation in which the inspiration has taken form and then finds expression in the world through man.
“Just as creation clothes itself in the human form, so man clothes inspiration in an idea, an idea is the bundled manifestation in which the inspiration has taken form and then finds expression in the world through man.”
sven during his public performance 'Breath with Me' in Museum IJsselstein.
These ideas are always pointing, they point to a way to see the world more deeply, to truly encounter it and welcome it into the 'experience of being'. Regardless of the form or medium in which the idea takes shape, it is an inspired view that ultimately leads to truly encountering the world, to being able to view a moment with eyes of love. When I 'point' to the setting Sun, to the falling leaf or the river that flows, one can consider the pointing itself as a work of art.
I prefer to call them 'indications' (rather than works of art) as it is the embodied process (or the remainder) of 'someone' who points to 'something' that is pointed out through the inspired ideas. The process of pointing is not the work of art, nor the pointer or the thing indicated, but the process of pointing at it (i.e., the clue) is what I consider my art or the work.
Everything that may come from me; every expression, every word, every action, every work of art, every lived moment is a way in which I try to point to the same timeless and Universal message that has been proclaimed around the world for decades; that love is the basis of existence and that man is here to learn to live in the presence of this love. The notion of a work of art, for me, lies in the state of 'being' in which we encounter the world in love and through inspired ideas remind others of this loving encounter.
My true artistry is 'pointing' to this memory.
